Ban-Ei Japanese Eyedropper Fountain Pen handmade by Japanese lathe-master Eisuke Sakai and Tsuchida Shuichi, who was in charge of final assembly. This pen features a Warranted 14K Gold Fine nib made by the legendary Japanese nib master Ginjiro Kabutogi, and is stamped with "6-0" along with one of his JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) registration numbers, 4622. Kabutogi is known as one of the greatest post war nib-masters and his nibs offer an amazingly unique writing experience. This Pen is in A, Excellent condition.

This pen's unique design is referred to as "Kamakura-bori." Named after the ancient lacquerware technique from Kamakura, Japan. In regards to this pen, the process involves the layering of several different colors of urushi lacquer onto the ebonite pen barrel and cap. Then, a small knife is used to make the "divots" or "scallops" in the urushi, revealing the colors underneath. It is a time consuming process, but the result is well worth it!

This pen has not undergone our standard seal replacement service, but the pen does not leak from the seal chamber and the original seals feel to be in excellent condition. It is still covered by our 90-Day service warranty. In the rare event the pen does start to leak from the shut-off knob, G.C. Murphy will perform the service at no additional cost to the buyer.
