Montblanc test marketed the VIP fountain pen in 1973. The company decided a slimmer pen was needed in the line-up. Following the successful test, Montblanc launch the Noblesse series of pens in 1974. Production continued through late 90's. The second generation Noblesse was launched in 1981 and produced through 1986.
The second generation Noblesse was offered in a variety of finishes including silver plated, gold plated, and painted lacquered which were available in 4 different colors. The 2nd generation pens were equipped with fantastic 18K gold nibs ranging the standard size options.
