The Sonnet was introduced in 1994 to replace the flagship Parker 75. The new top-of-the-line model was initially offered in 18 finishes and four nibs. The nibs reflected the price hierarchy for the model. The top nib was 18k solid gold two-toned with rhodium plating. The next level was a solid gold 18k nib. Third was 23k gold plated steel nib. The bottom of the nib line up was a stainless steel nib.

Pre-owned Parker Sonnet Athens Fountain Pen. This pen features a Medium two-tone 18K nib, which was the top-of-the-line model. Date code lllI suggests first quarter of 1994 production. Made in France. Athenes deep cut verticle engravings filled with black laque for a pinstripe effect. Body and trim is 23K gold plate.
