The Pilot Elite was launched in the 1960s as a full size fountain pen. It featured an 18K inlaid nib. The Pilot Elite S (for Short) was the pocket pen iteration of this pen. The wonderful large inlaid nib of the full size Elite is highly underrated. 

This pen is dated Oct 1972 and features an 18K gold nib that appears to be a Fine (possibly a Japanese Medium). Later nibs had the size marked on the nib.
