In 1959, the Montblanc line up was redesigned by Albrecht von Goertz. Goertz famously designed the BMW 507 and had a hand in designing the Toyota 2000GT and Datsun 240z. All three-digit pens (142, 144, 146) except the 149 were discontinued. The new line up was slimmer and fitted with a new “butterfly” nib. The pens were segmented into three tiers Meisterstuck, Medium Range and Economy. The pens came in two sizes. Pens ending in “2” were smaller in size while pens ending in “4” were larger.
Theses pen series were offered in four colors: black/burgundy/green/grey. Black is the most common with the other colors being more rare (opinions vary, but the rank from most common to least is burgundy/green/grey).
The No. 12 is in the Meisterstuck tier. The pen features an 18k Gold "Butterfly" nib and "bishop's mitre" cap band. The pen is in good condition.
This pen has been serviced by our pen repair team. The piston unit has been lubricated to Montblanc specs to ensure proper filling action. Serviced pens come with a 90-Day Warranty against any workmanship defects.

A NOTE ON TARIFFS
Importing items into the US has become more expensive in 2025. On August 29th, the US is ending the "de minimis" rule which allowed shipments under $800 to enter the US without tariffs. Those goods will now be assessed a tariff based on their Country Of Origin. Our items are located in the US. There are NO TARIFFS on any of our items when shipped to a US address. When comparing our our offerings to other sellers outside the US, the final price of those items outside the US will be higher. Buyers will incur tariff and clearance fees on their purchases. Some sellers disclose those fees while others only state that the fees will be incurred. For items originally from the EU, Germany, France, Italy, UK and Japan, the tariff is 15%. For items from Switzerland, the tariff is 39%. Clearance and brokerage fees will increase the cost beyond those tariffs. Items are assessed tariffs base on "Country Of Origin" not based on the country from which they are shipped. For example, a Swiss watch shipped from Japan will incur tariffs at the Swiss rate of 39%.
