This is a vintage ebonite fountain pen with a "Pelikan" nib made by legendary Japanese nib meister Ginjiro Kabutogi, or "G.K." Kabutogi has produced some of the best nibs to ever come out of Japan during the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. His nibs are usually recognizable by his brand's names or JIS numbers. Steady, Ideal, Swallow, and Selion are usually the brands most commonly attributed to him. J.I.S. numbers 3233 and 4622 were both registered to the nib maker as well. This "Pelikan" nib is marked with the number 4622, indicating the maker as G.K. The "Pelikan" marked nibs produced by G.K. are extremely rare.
This nib has incredible characteristics. It is extremely smooth and flexible, offering a fantastically bouncy writing experience with a light hand, and incredible flex and line variation when you increase writing pressure. This pen had the original cork valve seal replaced with nitrile o-rings, providing an excellent alternative to prevent leaks at the back of the pen.
