The Lord Marvel was released in 1958 by Suwa Seikosha as Seiko's first high end watch. It features incredible craftsmanship, both in the mechanical heart of this watch, as well as the finishing quality of the case and dial. Note the finishing quality of the movement and inner caseback, both components that would have only been seen by Seiko engineers and watch makers. And pay special attention to the dial logo; It is engraved into the dial, something that is very rare, even today. This is a "Special Dial" indicated by the 8-pointed sun logo at the 6 o'clock position. Seiko Special Dials have solid 18K gold hour markers and hands. The 80-micron-thick, 14K gold filled case does show its age, but is in great condition for being a 65 year old watch. This watch is the "Mk III" variant, identifiable by slight differences in the engravings on the dial. This watch is a great piece of Seiko history.
