In 1959, Suwa Seikosha unveiled the Seiko Crown. The Crown was their replacement for the initial Lord Marvel watch. The Crown Special 341 caliber was the next generation of Seiko precision timekeeping, and laid the groundwork for the architecture of many Seiko and Grand Seiko movements. It was the upgraded version of the standard Crown 540 movement. The 341 featured jeweled settings on all of the train wheels bringing it up to 23 jewels.
