The Montblanc two-digit model number pens were replaced in 1968 with the Classic line-up. The pens reverted back to a three-digit numbering system. The pens were offered in Matt Gold, Matt Silver, Matt Black, Polished Black, Grey, Red (Burgundy), Green and Stainless Steel. The pens were offered in just one size. Pens produced from 1968 through 1973 used the initial feed design which utilized a hole for airflow. In 1974, the feed was redesign and the hole was deleted. This feed remained in production through the end of the line in 1979. This particular 121 is a transitional year pen, and features the body and cap of a "regular" 121 but the nib and grip section of a 12! This is a rare, factory-original combination, not a mismatch of parts.

The No. 121 is in the Meisterstuck tier. The pen features an 18k Gold nib and "bishop's mitre" cap band. The pen is in D, Unrestored condition. The ink window cap retainer is cracked and will need to be replaced.
