The Seiko Lord Matic 5601-9000 represents one of the most elegant expressions of Seiko’s early automatic dress watch era. Produced by Suwa Seikosha, the Lord Matic line introduced a new generation of refined mechanical movements whose architecture would influence many of the brand’s celebrated hi-beat models throughout the 1970s. With its clean no-date format and sharp, restrained case design, the 5601-9000 offers the quiet sophistication that makes vintage Seiko so compelling. This example is especially uncommon, featuring the rare “Press Hokkoku” dial, believed to have been a special-order presentation variant made for Hokkoku Shimbun Press. Distinctive, seldom seen, and rich in period character, it is an outstanding piece for the collector drawn to unusual and historically interesting Japanese domestic Seiko references.
